Fitting:
Wear clothes that are loose but slightly fit near the belly
area. Straight clothing usually works well. Go for soft fabric to avoid
unnecessary bulk around the bust, waist and belly. Wear structured garments as
it’ll help you hide the extra bulk in your body.
Colours:
Wear bright coloured clothes
on your lower body to take away the attention from the upper body. Bright
colours like blue, deep yellow, lime green, red and vermillion.
Tops:
Tops
that are wide and low look fabulous on an apple shaped body. A wide neckline
will ensure your shoulders appear wide and a low neckline will help elongate
the body.
1.V-neckline
– a low v-neckline looks adorable.
2. Sweetheart neckline – this neckline has the shape of upper heart. The curves will enhance your bust area.
3.Scoop
neckline – showing significant amount of cleavage, this neckline will keep
the attention on your neck and bust area.
4.Square
neckline – a square neckline is wide enough to enhance your shoulders and
has a low-cut square frame which perfectly suits an apple body shape.
5.Strapless
neckline – this is one of the best necklines for an apple body. It allows
an ideal amount of cleavage and your shoulders are enhanced equally well.
Enrichments
on the upper body, near the neck area and around the neckline are also great to
keep the attention upwards, away from the belly area.
Avoid
high and narrow necklines. These necklines will hide your chest and make your
shoulders look narrower.
Sleeves:

Cap
– this type of sleeve is short and seamed to fit on the shoulders. It’ll
enhance your shoulders.

Slit – a slit sleeve has a cut on the sides which will keep the attention
on the upper body.
3.
Cuff – cuff sleeve displays an ornamental border enhancing your shoulders.
4.
Flare – this type of sleeve gives volume to the upper body and also draws
attention on the upper body.
Go for
sleeves that are loose and which adds volume on the upper body. Enrichments
like lace, net pattern, gathered fabrics can be added.
This
will help to keep the attention away from the midriff.
Avoid
wearing fitted sleeves that do nothing for your arms.
Shirts:
Wear
shirts with enrichments around the neck and shoulder area to create good amount
of volume. Tops with diagonal line pattern, bigger prints and texture looks
better than just the solid colours.

this type is fitted at the bust and gradually flares out into an A-line shape
as it extends further. This flare hides your midriff area.
2.Swing –
usually swing shirts are loose in fitting which will again help to hide the
midriff.

Drape – a drape shirt
will give a defined look to your body keeping the attention on your upper half.
Sometimes, it also gives a significant cleavage.

Tunic – longer than a women’s shirt but shorter than a dress,
this shirt gives you a modern definite look.
Jackets
and Coats:
Jackets
and coats are a great way to hide a wider midsection. The correct jackets and
coats will help you achieve a structured figure.
Wrap
style, tailored, straight, empire lined, cardigan and waterfall type of jackets
work well on an apple body.
Jackets
should finish at the hip line so that it balances out your body frame. Keep your
jacket open. This hides the silhouette and makes you look slimmer. For example,
cardigans look adorable when worn open.
Coming
on coats, structured coats are the best option.
The length
of the coat should be longer – between knees and hips. This will make you look
slim and again balance out your body frame. Like, jackets make sure that your
coats are also single-breasted. And open coats look lovely, elongating your
figure.
Avoid belted
and double-breasted jackets and coats. Also stay clear of any enrichments.
Jeans and Pants:
Aiming
to minimising the lower body, apple body shape should wear trousers that are
wide legged, flowy or flared. This will balance the wider midriff and help you
with slim legs.
Avoid skinny
bottoms as it will make your upper body look wider and will hide slimmer legs. Don’t
go for high-waist. Avoid pleats. These will enhance your midriff making you
look indefinite.
Skirts:
Go for
skirts that are at the calf or above. This will gain attention on your lower
half, avoiding the midriff .
Skirts
that are fitted from the waist to the hip and then gradually flares out from
the hemline works wonderfully on an apple body shape. Skirts like A-lined,
trumpet, flip, asymmetric, bias and pencil skirts are some skirts that will
make your curves look curvier.
Avoid going
for full length, flared or bubbled skirts. This will make you look fat. Also don’t
go for any type of enrichments on your skirt.
1.Shift – this
type of dress will give your shoulder more curve which will enhance it.
2. Empire line – this
type of dress gives a high waist appearance with a shirr long and loose skirt
and still gives a definite look.
3. A-line – fitted
from shoulders to hip and then widening, this dress will give a wider look for
shoulders hiding the hips and waist.
4.Wrap dress - This dress will give a V-neckline with a definite waist
line.
Jumpsuits:
A jumpsuit that is wider around the midriff and
short in length will keep the attention on lower half rather than the waist.
Avoid going for tight fit jumpsuits.
